I Have My Mom's Sewing Machine...Now What?
Have you inherited a sewing machine from someone you love but have no idea how to start using it? Are you ready to dust off your old Home EC skills and whip out some stiches? BYOSM (bring your own sewing machine) to learn basic machine set-up and troubleshooting, receive a starter set of sewing skills, and even make a bag to take home with you! This won't be your grandma's sewing circle, but she would be proud of you anyway.
Taught by: Maggie Gay-Johnson (she/her)
When: Sunday, April 28th, 2-4pm
Maggie learned to sew in her early childhood seated next to her Grandma Peg and has had the pedal to the floor in the 27 years since. Her passion for sewing really blossomed when her pre-teen kids were still in diapers, the highlighted projects always being their Halloween costumes. These days, if she isn't working in the office at a local school, Maggie spends most of her free time practicing her craft on creating and tailoring clothes, making baby quilts for loved ones, and helping costume local theatre productions. The other fractions of free time are spent gardening with the backyard chickens, reading a good book with the dogs, or cooking with her husband.
